Hydrologist / Drainage & Flood Risk EngineerOur client is an international multidisciplinary consultancy with operations in the infrastructure, energy and environmental markets. Specialising in providing engineering and planning support for both large and small developments in the private and public sectors, this position offers a diverse and constant stream of projects.
With several current large projects and several more about to start, the company are currently looking to appoint a Drainage & Flood Risk Engineer, experienced in the design of infrastructure drainage projects, to join their hydrology team in Glasgow. The successful candidate will have a fantastic opportunity to develop their engineering and design skills on a variety of major infrastructure projects in the public and private sectors.
Responsibilities:
- Undertake flood risk assessments using ISIS & HEC-RAS
- Undertake drainage design work for major infrastructure projects (including SUDS design)
- Undertake design and modelling of drainage systems using MicroDrainage software
- Prepare designs using AutoCAD and GIS to support projects
- Preparation of reports and proposal to support projects
- Liaise with colleagues, clients, statutory regulators and approvers
Requirements:
- Degree educated in a relevant degree (e.g. civil engineering)
- Chartered or progressing toward chartership with a relevant body (e.g. MICE, CIWEM)
- Experience in delivering flooding and drainage projects to high technical standards
- Knowledge of industry software (e.g. GIS/ ISIS / HECRAS/ TUFLOW/ MIKE FLOOD)
- Working knowledge of the industry, legislation and approvals processes
- Experience with network modelling and feasibility studies is advantageous
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Full UK driving licence
