Solutions Engineer

6 Month Contract
Main responsibilities & duties
- Assigned to the Engineering Stream of a Data Center migration project, covering approx. 118 applications moving to a DC location in Nevada. Reporting to the Technical Lead for the project.
- Review per-application migration design documentation and ensure all infrastructure related artifacts:
- Are documented & agreed with the migration and operational support teams (current & target infrastructure)
- Are mapped to service requests for implementation
- Are verified as implemented (as per requirement/service request)
- This role does not require hands on implementation of infrastructure changes, which will be done be Service Operations teams
- Infrastructure related artifacts include:
- Server configuration (Physical, Virtual, Sparc, x86, Solaris, Windows Server, VMWare etc )
- Storage configuration (SAN, NAS, Database, File share etc )
- Network configuration (high level view)
- Provide Infrastructure SME for addressing any during/post migration issues
- This role will require some out of hours/weekend working

Storage technologies (SAN, NAS)
Database technologies (Oracle, MSSQL)
Network Configurations (Firewalls, Load balancers, VLANs)
Infrastructure capacity planning
Ability to:
Chair meetings, aggregate disparate sources to produce current state infrastructure documentation
Produce/justify a target state infrastructure configuration
Specify target infrastructure requirements to a level that can be provisioned by Service Operations
Act as technical SME in the case of problem resolution in the target environment
Education/Experience
Education
Preference for degree, likely IT or Engineering
IT Industry recognized qualifications
Experience
5 years plus in a Solution Design engineering role
Travel industry experience preferred
