Overview
Chirpler is seeking an awesome Full-stack Node.js Developer to build a social dating web app.
Chirpler is a social dating web app that enables users to meet others by allowing them to rate whether or not they're interested in the other person.
Whenever two users mutually indicate they're interested in one another, a chat dialog is opened between the two. It's similar to Tinder, Badoo and Zoosk (I recommend you check those three services out to get an idea).
This job is a full-time contract position (meaning able to work >= 40 hours/week) and you are free to work remote. In the longer-term, it could turn into a full-time position, but more likely it will be a longer-term contract part-time position (maintenance, tweaks, backups, scaling, building new features, keeping things alive, etc.).
Where Chirpler is at Today
I currently have a basic sample prototype of the web app done. You can view it here: (http://www.chirpler.com). It's very raw and the features are minimal. I have a new design professionally done (both in mockup form, as well as in HTML/CSS form to integrate) for the next release, which you'll be leading and developing from the ground up.
It's currently built using: Node.js, Express framework, Redis, Facebook Login APII still have yet to determine what type of database to go with longer-term (combining Redis with MySQL vs. Redis with MongoDB, etc.). Choosing which mix is one of the areas where you come in :)
About us
Chirpler is led by a small team. And by small, I mean just myself. I am an online advertiser by trade, and a noob programmer by hobby/interest (Python and Node.js). You'll be working with just myself, and will have the freedom to make and build Chirpler however you think is best.
Desired qualifications
- A passion for learning and working with new technologies
- Experience building and scaling large social web apps
- Experience developing Recommender Systems (think of a dating system and re-creating Tinder, Badoo, Zoosk - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Recommender_system)
- Experience and advanced aptitude building Node.js apps
- Redis
- Facebook Login API
- Amazon Web Services (EC2, S3, CloudFront, Route53)
- Stripe payment system and Stripe API
- Linux/Ubuntu servers and Nginx web server
- AngularJS, Handlebars.js, Gruntfile
- Chef, Puppet or other infrastructure automation software
- SockJS or other chatting framework/module
- Background or experience in Machine Learning and/or Applied Mathematics.
- Familiarity with Git and Github best practices/workflow
- Proficiency in other languages is a plus, specifically Python
