Senior Project Accountant - 6 month contractJob Purpose
To manage the provision of a proactive business planning, financial and management accounting service to the Information Technology function (Capital expenditure circa £100M p.a.)
Key Accountabilities
Support the function in achieving their objectives and targets
Lead and manage project accountants, identifying resource requirements and recruiting as necessary
Manage the preparation of business plans, budgets and actuals, providing specialist advice
Conduct investment and other project appraisals, including business case analysis
Develop and maintain budgetary control over the programme of works by reporting variances, utilisation and risks/opportunities to the various Project Managers in an appropriate format and timely manner
Develop and maintain accounting procedures to deliver integrity of costs, income, forecasts and budgets. Complete all technical accounting tasks in line with current standards and rules
Embed corporate governance processes within projects and monitor compliance
Provide financial advice and support to the business team informing them of the project, function and company finances. This includes understanding tax implications of financial decision making in the project
Job Skills, Experience and Qualifications
Essential
Full membership of relevant professional accounting body
Experience in project accounting for large IT or construction projects
Excellent IT skills, especially MS Excel
Desirable
2/3 years post qualification experience
3 years experience within finance disciplines of Network R ail and/or external organisations
Experience of Oracle based systems
Excellent communication skills to build relationships with a wide range of individuals to manage their expectations
