The Role
This is an Oracle DBA position on AIX platform. We're looking for a hands-on database technologist with both system and application database administration experience.
Advanced expertise in performance tuning activities and excellent verbal and written communication skills are required. The ideal candidate is a self starter, able to drive tasks to completion independently, and able to learn new skills on the job as project requirements expand.
Primary responsibilities:
- Supporting the day to day development activities by working with the application development team on database issues
- Performance tuning/troubleshooting complex queries and server performance issues
- Run system performance tests in the non-production environments
- Recommend improvements in the reporting and batch processing code based on analysis of system snapshots and database logs
- Participate in the production support activities on a 24x7 basis
- Participate database code reviews Skills Required
- 6 years Oracle DBA experience on a UNIX platform (primarily AIX and Solaris a plus) including installing/configuring/patching Oracle database software on AIX/UNIX platform
- 5 years or more experience in the database development life cycle
- 3 years or more experience in design, development and support of large Data Warehousing and Business Intelligence related database applications
- 3 years database programming including stored procedure and trigger development
- Strong SQL skills including the ability to rewrite complex queries to improve performance
- Ability to prioritize, multitask and work with onshore and offshore teams Skills Desired
- Other RDBMS platforms such as DB2 LUW on AIX/zLinux or DB2 on zOS is a big plus
- DataStage ETL development and administration
- UNIX and Shell Scripting skills
- Experience in a programming language is a plus

6. Education/Experience: Bachelor's Degree & a minimum of 7 years overall IT experience
