Description

Responsible for the majority of the setup and maintenance of the Project Server environment. Will be the second line of support to users if an issue is not resolved by help desk or quick reference guide. Will be the technical liaison to the owner of the corporate project management process and tool governance. Will provide a plan and support for deployment of new features and should be comfortable performing live or online instructional courses.

Roles & Responsibilities:
  • Provide end-user training & mentoring
    • How to use the Enterprise tool
    • New PM training
    • Team member training - time reporting
    • Address how to use' questions (best practices)
    • Manage EPM Training
    • Update PS 2010 Training/Quick Reference Guides as needed
  • Application Security Administration
    • Maintaining users, groups & security settings
      • Determines who should be in security groups beyond team members (such as the Project Managers, Program Managers, or Tool Administrators Group) from a "business perspective
    • Review permission settings and selections
    • Manage users and Active Directory groups
  • Tool Administration/Day-to-day support
    • Perform configuration changes
    • Compare System Configuration against baseline for changes
      • Update configuration documentation as needed
    • Create and Manage Data Analysis views
    • Develop requested reports or views to be used for reporting project progress or managing resources using time reporting or Portfolio Analyzer
      • When requested run extracts that are needed out of Project Server for Resource Allocation Management Reporting
    • Audit Projects on Server
      • Move inactive projects to Inactive Projects Category
      • Review list of checked out projects or other project server objects
      • Archive project plans that are closed and exceed retention policy
      • Archive SharePoint Workspaces for projects identified above
    • Run Smoke Test of basic functionality and performance. Document key results.
    • Check for new documentation on TechNet Site
    • Test Disaster Recovery Procedures
  • Manages Enterprise global templates & resources
    • Front End support for maintaining Admin project schedules for ITS group leaders
    • Update Enterprise Calendars
    • Update Fiscal Year Timesheets
    • Update Enterprise Fiscal/Timesheet Periods
    • Update SharePoint Template (as needed)
  • Troubleshooting and Preventative Maintenance
    • Troubleshoot end user issues
    • Identifying problems with Project Server operation, MS Project functionality, OLAP CUBE, Active Directory to Enterprise Resource Pool nightly synchronization run
      • Perform Daily System Health' checks
    • Did Cube Build run successfully?
      • Maintain FAQ documents and lessons learned
  • Currently stored the Project Services Project Server Issues Tracking MS Access DB
    • Examine Project Server Queue for Issues
    • Review & Archive Audit Logs
    • Review Timesheet Log for Errors
    • Audit Resources (Inactive, RBS, Profile Completion)
    • Maintain & Archive Queue Error Log
    • Examine Project Server Queue for Issues
    • Ensure OLAP Cube built successfully
    • Verify nightly jobs successfully ran
    • Verify Active Directory Syncs
    • Run Database backup sets (Draft and Published)
    • Perform Verify Weekly Backup
      • Check for new documentation on TechNet site
      • Review hotfixes and service pack updates
      • Work with technical support personnel to resolve problems
      • Communicating problems identified and resolutions to end-users
