Senior Commercial Lead; London; 6 months; £745/day

My client a public sector organisation is looking to recruit a Senior Commercial Lead in London for 6 months. The Senior Commercial Lead will be reporting to the Head of Commercial.

This role forms part of the Commercial Senior Management Team with responsibility for the conclusion of the remaining high value high risk Technology Procurements, and onwards to establishing and maintain the new Commercial and Contract Management process for this £1bn Programme.

The requirements of this role will include:
*Being responsible for the daily management of procurement across the Programme, with specific responsibility for managing the procurement team managing a series of specific procurements (£60m - £250m)
*A qualified lawyer with strong procurement experience
*Become familiar with and advise on the service level and credit regime
*Contributing to commercial and legal strategy
*Challenging legal advice ensuring appropriate balanced advice is provided
*Ensuring value for money is delivered by the external legal advisors
*Being highly competent at stakeholder management with ability to influence senior stakeholders
*Support the Leads as senior commercial and contract terms negotiator for the award and mobilisation of contracts, aligning transition with relevant exit provisions within the existing contract portfolio, to ensure business continuity in critical areas of operation
*Managing the development and approval of the commercial reports in line with the forward plan and ensure the plan's ongoing integrity and consistency
*Managing the interface with and delivery of the change control processes, including the impact of any change is applied across the entire commercial suite
*Understanding, from a programme level, the commercial risks facing [buyer/supplier] and manage on-going mitigation in both a procurement space and intense contract management environment
*Working with the legal branch, lead the design, development and acceptance of appropriate contract forms that will reduce the exposure to commercial risk and enforce cost and performance mechanisms
*Ensuring and evidencing compliance with all statutory/procurement policy requirements to relevant governance, audit and quality assurance standards
*Providing any required procurement/commercial input to responses to external requests

Ideal Candidate
*The candidate for this role is likely to be a seasoned commercial manager, possibly a qualified lawyer and ideally in technology.
*This role will suit a clear thinker with problem resolution being a key attribute.
*The candidate is also likely to have worked in a firm collaborative model, rather than have an aggressive confrontational style.
*Critically analysing and reengineering supply chains, attendant commercial models and spend to reduce cost and negative environmental impacts whilst increasing performance and value;
*Working with large cross functional teams comprising policy leads, technical experts, budget and operational managers, and user representatives through complex commercial frameworks;
*Have keen planning skills for all commercial related activity.
*Understand the benefits of good Management Information across contracts and an ability to communicate this at the appropriate level.
*The candidate is likely to have 10+ years at senior management level, managing a wide range of teams and contracts, ideally including working in the public sector among civil servants.
