Our client is looking for a Mechanical Engineer to be a full and proactive member of a team providing multi-discipline Engineering Solutions. Provide the through life Mechanical Engineering content of Engineering Solutions from problem definition through design, manufacture, works test, Installation, commission, site acceptance testing, culminating in Project Closure

Key Accountabilities:
*Contribute toward and the mechanical elements and interfaces of engineering solutions
*Understand the relevant and current UK and EU safety legislation, standards, methods and requirements
*Understand and work with company process in a structured, rational and auditable manner, including to work within an accredited quality assurance system to satisfy BS EN (ISO) 9001
*Contribute to the reconciliation of requirements, problem definition, and the structured creative process to select a preferred option

Responsibilities:
*Contribute toward and/or take responsibility for the mechanical elements and interfaces of a range of engineering solutions
*Interpret and incorporate HAZOP actions and Safety Function Requirements (SFRs) in the Engineering Solution
*Produce Engineering Solutions which are executable on existing nuclear plant on current functional systems
*Work in 2Dimensional & 3Dimensional model space, ensuring outputs meet with fitness for purpose and standards as appropriate
*Manage the mechanical elements and interface of manufacturing and works testing by the client appointed manufacturer and any other subcontractors where required
*Contribute to the Works and Site Test & Commissioning Strategy(ies)
*Identify the mechanical and interface Test and Commissioning deliverables
*Produce Identified deliverables and have them verified by the appropriate responsible role holders
*Contribute to the Testing and Commissioning as is required and appropriate
*Produce Engineering Solutions which are executable on existing nuclear plant, were some systems will remain fully functional
*Produce reports against planned progress and attend meeting accordingly
*Working from Requirements, a selected Option, Defined Safe Process and strategy:
*Produce the mechanical design elements of the Engineering Solution
*Ensure the mechanical design elements integrate with all other disciple elements of the Engineering Solution
*Contributing to HAZID, HAZOP-I and HAZOP-II processes
*Ensure the mechanical elements are safe and functional by design, to manufacture, for works testing, for construction, for commissioning and for site testing
*Ensure the mechanical elements are safe and functional when integrated with other disciple elements of the Engineering Solution, at all stages

Qualifications:
*Degree or equivalent in Mechanical Engineering; or other relevant technical discipline
*Chartered status preferred

Good working knowledge of:
*Mechanical engineering
*Equipment selection and specification
*Materials and mechanical handling
*Materials selection
*Manufacturing methods and technologies
*Process Engineering
*Nuclear and Conventional Safety
*Process plant safety and control systems
*Hazardous Area Classification
*Project Management for study/project scheduling of engineering activities, detailed planning and reporting own work in terms of progress and schedule
*Budget systems within a project for personal productivity tracking and for projects and overhead use

Experience:
*Working in a highly regulated industry
*Significant experience of producing Engineering Solutions for nuclear production plants.
*Interfacing with modern Programmable Logic Controllers (PLC) Control Systems and old relay logic and PLC Control Systems
*Interfacing with Power and small power and lighting
*Interfacing with liquid, vacuum and gaseous services
*Working experience of team work and planning/reporting of such within multi-discipline project teams, including project/scheduling interfaces
