Financial Reporting Accountant - 6 months- Warwick - Negotiable Rate

Financial Reporting Accountant required for large utilities client in the West midlands.

Job Purpose:-

Assist in the provision of a comprehensive Financial Reporting service on behalf of the individual businesses and other Shared Services business streams. Delivery of reporting to Corporate Centre, and external reporting in respect of statutory accounts, regulatory accounts and other external outputs, as well as the provision of technical financial accounting advice and guidance.

Experience Required

*3 years experience within a Finance department or similar
*Ability to work unsupervised and deliver high quality work to tight deadlines
*Strong knowledge of current regulations including IFRS, UK GAAP, Companies Acts, Regulatory Licences, Sarbanes Oxley an advantage
*Strong analytical skills
*Good communication and influencing skills to Senior Manager level
*Knowledge of clients financial systems and general accounting procedures

Qualifications Required

*Passed finalist or member of a professional accounting body (eg CIMA, ACCA, ACA, or CPA)
*Degree or equivalent

Key Tasks

*Assist the Financial Reporting Manager and Assistant Financial Reporting Managers by contributing to the preparation of material activities related to one or more of the activities below:

*Preparation of annual Statutory Accounts, Regulatory Accounts, Regulatory Returns (eg Statement of Sufficiency of Resources, Dividend declarations, deminimus threshold monitoring but excluding income reporting) and associated external reporting matters on behalf of the businesses to the standard required by legislation, listing rules, licences and external regulatory bodies

*Submission of consolidated returns to Corporate as well as the resolution of any queries raised by Corporate, including agreement of timetable and management of the submission process

*Establishing and supporting processes for the resolution of queries and issues raised by auditors and regulatory bodies regarding filed financial reports

*Ensuring that all internal reporting within Business Units and to Corporate correctly and consistently applies the GAAP/Statutory accounting principles and conventions. Preparation of fully allocated Hyperion submissions to Group according to tight time scales

*Interpretation and dissemination of Group Accounting and external body (such as Ofgem and the Accounting Standards Board) guidance. Establish, training & support processes and implement those processes in the shared services environment, including liaison with the service provider to ensure any changes are properly reflected by them.

*Maintenance of Accounting Policies and Manuals and the provision expert accounting advice to all parts of the Businesses to ensure compliance and maximisation of value to the client

*Establish and direct financial analysis in support of Group strategic initiatives such as acquisitions, divestments, Price Control Reviews in order to maximise value to clients

*Manage the completion of annual tax packs on a timely basis. Liaison with the Tax department regarding completion of tax computations and ensure correct treatment of all items in the accounts

*Liaison with Treasury to ensure necessary disclosure information in respect of debt and interest is fairly stated in all external accounts and returns

*Prepare financial analysis in support of Group strategic initiatives such as acquisitions, divestments, Price Control Reviews in order to maximise value to the client

*Ensure the consistency of quality and accuracy of data across all relevant sources

*Continuous improvement. Seek opportunities to enhance operational efficiency through the identification and implementation of areas for improvement by reference to external best practice and internal service provider initiatives
