Description
A new contract opportunity has arisen for a Senior Mechanical Design Engineer to join a company involved in cutting edge secure communications technology. An initial 6 month contract based in the South East of the UK.This established and internationally successful defence leader requires additional mechanical design engineering support in one of their existing teams, where the successful candidate will be working on multiple projects simultaneously.
As a Senior Mechanical Design Engineer, you will have responsibility for:-
- Producing mechanical designs to be incorporated into products developed for the Defence Industry
- Production of high quality designs and documentation
- Effective communication with electronic and production teams
- Requirements analysis for new designs
- Contributing to peer design reviews ensuring adherence to design processes
Essential Experience required:-
- Mechanical Design to MIL-SPEC and DEF-STAN standards
- Pro-Engineer
- Working with complex electronic products
- Full development lifecycle of products
- MIL-STD 1521B development process and milestone reviews
- Conceptual design and feasibility analyses in multi-disciplinary teams
- Design to meet harsh environmental conditions
- EMC & TEMPEST requirements
- FEA and thermal simulation
- Performing tolerance analysis of close tolerance, complex assemblies
- Manufacturing technologies for design optimisation: Machined from solid, injection moulding, extrusion, sheet metal and casting.
Additional requirements:-
The successful candidate will need to have recently worked in a defence environment and be eligible for UK MOD security clearance.
