Outsource UK Ltd is actively seeking to recruit an EMC Engineer for a contract role on behalf of a client.

The Client:
A leading Engineering and Defence organisation

The Job:
The purpose of the Senior EMC Engineer role is to work within a small team in a UKAS accredited EMC test laboratory which mainly undertakes design proving and qualification testing on our clients own products. The role involves undertaking and completing a range of EMC military test tasks in a professional manner, in accordance with the relevant standards and specifications. Familiarity and hands-on experience with military EMC testing is essential. Additionally the successful candidate will be required to provide support to EMC test, qualification and fault finding across all our clients sites.

Key Responsibility Areas
The successful Senior EMC Engineer candidate will be responsible for the following:
Undertake EMC Test engineering activities within own competence without day to day guidance or supervision, including liaison with customers and suppliers as appropriate
Make engineering decisions based on sound judgement and experience
Manage own tasks within departmental and project constraints
Contribute to team planning, risk management, quality and HSE
Seek and share good practice and knowledge to continuously improve EMC test practices
To work with customers in the creation of test plans
Maintain and develop site measurement uncertainty budget and develop new test methodologies
Analysis of data derived from measurements
Creation of EMC test reports for customers
Adherence to local procedures
Use of a diverse range of EMC test equipment
To work to nationally accredited standards for EMC test and support the maintenance of the lab's UKAS accreditation

Skills, Qualifications & Knowledge
HNC, HND or Degree qualified, or equivalent, in a relevant electrical/electronic engineering discipline
Good overall knowledge of Military EMC test standards and will also have made extensive use of these in 'hands-on' testing.

Typical standards include:
MIL STD 461
BS 3G 100: Part 4: Section 2
DEF STAN 59-41 RTCA Section 21
Experienced in the use and calibration of EMC/RF Test Equipment
Strong IT based skills, with proven communication and organisation skills
Practical hands-on experience in a busy test lab environment
Will have a good understanding of the health and safety requirements for EMC test facilities
Good understanding of the engineering life cycle
