Sr Systems Administrator
Location: Berkeley, CA 94720
Duration: 6 months (Contract to hire)
Type: W2
This position will serve as a technical administrator for hardware, operating systems, and network management. Plans and coordinates the installation, configuration and testing of hardware and software components. Work may involve central or departmental computer systems and networks. Includes web systems administration.
Responsibilities:
Install complex, custom business IT solutions with workstations, users and network devices, Servers and networking equipment.
Tackle business-to-business communication solutions, accessing the Internet and other business networks safely and efficiently.
Manage and ensure security of stored information, including PL2 data, and give access to relevant users. This should include access control via Active Directory groups and policies, file and share permissions, account management, Firewall management, data encryption, IP based access control, and integration with existing systems.
Use Microsoft Windows Servers to organize distributed Server, Message Block file shares into a Distributed File System.
Provide system level documentation and diagrams.
Install and configure IPv4, basic IPv6 services and tunneling.
Install, configure and maintain virtualized environments.
Interface with IT infrastructure service providers to architect and support all business processes, including PII data security and management.
Monitor systems for performance, reliability and security, test, and troubleshoot. Implement appropriate updates, patches, and system changes, create and maintain documentation, and transfer knowledge to other team members.
Liaison to other service providers (Windows Team, EEI, DBA, CSS-IT, App Team, Production Control, Storage).
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in related area and/or equivalent experience/training
Experience with using one or more programming or Scripting language in systems automation
Experience with managing more than one operating systems (Windows, OS X, Linux) is a plus
Practical knowledge of Windows Server environment, Active Directory and Organizational Unit, and User/Client configuration Management.
Good written and verbal communication skills.
Ability to understand and comply with company and regulatory policies.
Understanding the business of the company and how the computing platform supports that business.
A strong interest in building a robust, fault tolerant computing platforms.
Strong background in networking, Firewall, TCP/IP, routing, and DNS.
