Location: Manchester, CT
Duration: 6 months
Responsibilities:
- Reviews and approves engineering manufacturing plans, process sheets, procedures, and work instructions for proper and complete flow down of customer requirements to ensure compliance.
- Ensures that customer required data cards are generated and submitted for approval and that fixed process requirements are incorporated and maintained (eg Engineering Source Approvals).
- Initiates root cause and corrective action processes for internal nonconformance (quality data analysis and MCAB analysis) and for customer complaints.
- Facilitates correction action team/investigations and submits short and long-term corrective action plans to customers.
- Serves as a customer liaison for quality related issues (ie, approvals, first article submittals, customer audits, customer complaints, etc.) and will ensure compliance with the purchase orders, contracts, specifications, and drawings
- Ensure that inspection capabilities (ie, inspection equipment) are in place for new product. Identify hidden characteristics for in process verification and generate customer nonconformance reports (deviation/waivers) with corrective actions.
- Review and incorporate first article requirements (AS9102 experience preferred) and ensure production readiness.
- Generate inspection plans: characteristic accountability-sequence (balloon) all drawing characteristics, extract specification requirements for inspection, generate inspection method required equipment, and review and approve IMS.
- Verify that all customer special process approvals are in-place (in-house and supplier) and prepare special process submittal packages for customer approval.
- Disposition of nonconforming material (NMR).
Required:
- Bachelor of Science Degree in Mechanical Engineering or related technical field.
- 1+ years' experience in the quality assurance field and with aerospace OEM requirements.
- Knowledgeable of ISO9000, AS9000, and NADCAP requirements.
- Knowledgeable of SPC, FMEA, VSM, and lean manufacturing techniques (eg, P&W Process Certification,
- Client MPC and Rolls-Royce CPP programs).
- Good verbal and written communication skills with the ability to clearly articulate and convey issues.
- Background in aerospace auditing techniques, both internal and with suppliers.
- Familiar with geometric tolerances, and supplier surveillance techniques, and special processes.
- Proficient written and verbal communication and computer skills.
- Experience with the following is desirable: layout inspection skills, DQR, mini-tab, related training, lean manufacturing, Microsoft Powerpoint, and Microsoft Project.
