Description

Financial Modelling Analyst  - CFA/ACA

Overall Job Purpose

  • Subject matter expertise on resolution strategy and financial modelling, to help Retail Banking Group articulate how bail-in would work in practice under a proposed new corporate structure, including the technical and legal aspects of downstreaming of Gone-concern Loss-Absorbing Capacity (GLAC) around the group and upstreaming of losses.
  • Accounting and finance expertise (CFA qualified) to lead engagement with financial reporting and product control on calculation of capital deficit in resolution, including reassessment of RWAs, and more broadly to work with functional areas to articulate the Legal, Accounting and Tax issues arising in bail-in, close out remaining issues, and interpret and ratify regulatory expectations.
  • End-goals include endorsement of  bail-in strategy by regulators and positive resolvability assessment

Key Responsibilities

  • Set out how losses would be upstreamed in a resolution and how Gone-concern Loss-Absorbing Capacity (GLAC) would be distributed around the group in BaU and in resolution
  • Work with Treasury to establish the appropriate amount of GLAC, its location within the group, what instruments should be eligible for GLAC and work with Legal to analyse the feasibility of alternatives to pre-positioning (such as guarantees or unfunded commitments)

Required Experience

  • Accounting and finance expertise (CFA qualified) with financial modelling skills
  • Strong understanding of bail-in, differences between US and European approaches, and insight into how it would work in practice
  • Engagement, facilitation and relationship management skills that demonstrate ability to balance and manage diverse stakeholder interests, while driving delivery at pace
  • Proven ability to create powerful executive reporting materials for use in presentations to senior management and executives, or external audiences
  • High integrity, with ability to deal with highly confidential, market sensitive information

Preferred

  • Proven recovery and resolution experience, preferably within the global financial services industry (ideally with regulatory experience)
  • Education to degree level or higher (ideally with finance, banking or accounting) or equivalent (eg Accounting qualification or CFA) with relevant supporting business and operational management experience.
