Senior Network Design Engineer
Our client is a large telecommunications company looking to recruit a senior network Design engineer to join their Dublin based team. This is a contract position.
The role holder is responsible for providing effective design, support and delivery of medium and large projects, dealing with all relevant issues
Key Responsibilities:q To engage customers strategy team and develop excellent working relationship with them
q To engage project team and understand scope and requirements of all projects
q To draft reports and project documentation and make recommendations to managers and project sponsors.
q To provide analytical and innovative input to projects as well as support negotiations.
q To host and manage workshops/learning sessions with team and customer, if required, to outline design
q Include capacity and security considerations for all projects
q To trial proposed design in a lab environment
q To implement design and perform detailed handover to the operations team to in-life support and management of the service
q May be required to assist operations team in the troubleshooting of issues post implementation
q To work with internal, external and third party suppliers.
q Support a high performing culture whereby team management and members understand targets and the importance of meeting them in order to provide a positive customer experience
q To act as a key contributor and provide expert advice to other groups on technical, project and change activities.
q To produce cost/timescale solutions/options and manage expectations as appropriate with customer or Business Unit/LoB teams.
Qualifications/Skills:
q CCNP/CCIE certified
q MPLS Network background (Desired, but not essential)
q Multiple routing protocol knowledge including BGP, OSPF routing
q Scripting and programming eg UNIX/Linux would be an advantage
q Radius knowledge
q Mobile Packet Core GGSN, SGSN, RNC, RAN knowledge would be an advantage
q Comprehensive knowledge of Routers, Switches and Firewalls
q Basic knowledge of 2G, 3G or LTE mobile communications would be beneficial
