My client a well known telecommunications company is seeking a two experienced Disaster recovery experts. Both roles will be working in a complex enterprise environment across an Application & Infrastructure environment.

The purpose of this role is to provide advice and expertise to the Program in the area of Information Technology Resilience and Disaster Recovery, and particularly how it fits within the enterprise Business Resilience outcomes. This role is responsible for working with the Lead to perform assessment, modelling, planning and developing resilience and disaster recovery principles, standards, policies and solutions and provision of enterprise consultancy to respond to the strategic requirements of the Program.

The role will be responsible for developing innovative solutions to address business requirements. The role will be accountable for delivering competent and strategic consultancy to the Program to assess, model and plan technical strategy, frameworks and solutions to enable the successful implementation of resilience and disaster recovery within the enterprise.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Work across the domain Architects to determine suitable resilience solutions, then work with the Resilience Technical team to ensure solutions are implementable
  • Plan and develop technical strategies, frameworks, solutions for IT resilience and disaster recovery crossing all enterprise levels; business, organisation, process, application, data, technology, facilities & security.
  • Interpret and apply business continuity, resilience and disaster recovery standards, regulations and best practices (ISO 22301, BS25999, NFPA 1600, ISO28000 - ISO28005) to complex business environments in a practical, pragmatic manner while achieving compliance requirements and business goals.
  • Understand complex business and information technology management processes while tailoring resilience and disaster recovery recommendations, strategies and solutions.
  • Liaise with and provide recommendations to line of business sponsors and managers for resilience and disaster recovery strategies, frameworks and solutions.
  • Provide technical guidance, recommendation, architecture and design for the delivery of high level work packages for IT resilience and disaster recovery.
  • Definition of functional and non-functional resilience and disaster recovery requirements for critical systems and platforms.
  • Define and recommend strategies for integrating resilience and disaster recovery solutions across business, organisation, process, application, data, technology, facilities and security layers of enterprise architecture.
  • Define and recommend resilience and disaster recovery techniques and technologies for platforms and systems across the enterprise.
  • Providing recommendations to the Program that are capability, budget and outcome focussed
  • Pro-active identification of potential issues with Program projects
  • Acting as the technical interface with senior managers

To be successful in this role you must have the following:

  • Service Oriented Architecture and Enterprise Architecture
  • Conceptual architecture, integration and design knowledge of all of the following technology areas:
  • Application high availability architecture and frameworks
  • Server Technologies [IBM/HP/SUN/Dell hardware; Solaris, Windows, Linux operating systems; server peripherals]
  • Storage and Backup technologies [SAN/NAS, enterprise backup, enterprise recovery]
  • Data Networks
  • Vendor Technologies - Cisco & Juniper
  • Data Technologies - Firewall, switch, Router, load balancer, network analyser, remote access, cache/Proxy, VPN, network management & network services
  • Data link technologies - eLine, ISDN, Frame Relay, IPMAN, IPWAN, DWDM
  • Security technologies and concepts
  • Integration of business systems and networks
  • High availability technologies [application, messaging, database, server, network, storage]
  • Experience in disaster recovery and resilience solutions - you must be seen as an industry technical/architectural expert in these areas.
