Electrical Systems Engineer required for a leading Aviation company based in Cheltenham to work on advanced Aerospace Actuation Systems and complete tasks relating to the full Systems Engineering life cycle. You will provide expert knowledge on aerospace Electrical Actuation Systems and Motor Controls and support the teams completing all activities including requirements definition, validation, integration, certification, safety analysis, and verification. You will be required to ensure technical data is appropriately documented for the assigned projects and tasks consistent with engineering policies and procedures.

Qualifications, Skills & Experience:

  • Degree in Engineering with significant engineering experience or equivalent knowledge and experience as a Systems Engineer within the aerospace/aviation domain
  • Integration experience of aerospace Electrical Actuation control
  • Ability to define electrical drive system requirements systems, in high and low power Actuation applications
  • BLDC motor and motor controller design/integration knowledge and experience
  • Significant Experience of Electrical Drives in aerospace Actuation applications
  • Experience of requirements definition and integration of one or more of the following: Electrical Actuation Systems, sub systems, Electrical sensors and/or Electronic Components
  • Perform system analysis, modelling and simulation (experience of MATLAB Simulink an advantage)
  • Design and review control systems for aircraft actuation systems, Hydraulic or Electrically driven
  • Capturing, understanding and documenting the customer's system requirements
  • In-depth product knowledge of one or more of the following: Electrical Drives, Electrical Motors, BLDC Motors and Drives, Data Concentrators, Aviation related data-busses, Landing Gear Control Systems
  • Experience of the systems design life cycle within aerospace or a similar high integrity
  • Familiarity and ARP4754 and ARP4761is desirable with knowledge of the principles of mechanical engineering
  • Experience with DOORS and RTCA-DO160
  • The ability to work independently to research techniques and methodologies
