Management Accountant- 3 month contract

Our client requires a Management Accountant to produce monthly and quarterly financial accounts highlighting key issues so that appropriate management action can be taken. Comply with the revised Pension SORP and managing the financial accounts in general.

Your Role and Responsibilities as the Management Accountant will be:

  • Manage the daily operational cash requirements and produce monthly cash forecasts to ensure best use of cash whilst retaining adequate funds to meet pension payments and other outgoings.

  • Manage the Purchase Ledger process to ensure supplier invoices are paid accurately per contract terms.

  • Review monthly reconciliations including bank, contributions, AVC balances to the providers and the

  • Prepare all HMRC tax returns including quarterly VAT returns, and self-assessment tax returns for the pension schemes (SA970).

  • Prepare and co-ordinate the Annual Report & Accounts and associated reports, statements and returns to meet company, department, statutory and client requirements.

  • Prepare the annual budgeting and forecasting process.

  • Assist auditors in their site work through the preparation of the yearend audit file and timely response to all queries

  • Assist the Finance & Payroll Manager with any adhoc projects as required.

  • Adhere to all client policies and procedures and as necessary, update those relating to Pensions

  • Internal Relationships with Director of Pensions, Head of Investment, Pensions Administration and Communication Team, Finance & Payroll Team.

  • External Relationships with Custodian, Bank, Investment Managers Actuary, Auditor, Pension Fund Consultants & other Suppliers.

The Essential Skills and Experience required for the Management Accountant are:

  • Previous experience in financial/management accounting (ideally some supervisory skills).

  • Relevant accountancy professional qualification is preferred. Candidate qualified by experience will be considered.

  • Knowledge and understanding of accounting procedures and processes (ideally in a pension/investment environment).

  • Computer literate. Attention to detail essential; good written/verbal communication initiative, team player.
