Responsibilities:
You are a strong team player but also a strong individual who can independently, and in a team, efficiently resolve client issues.
You have a passion for troubleshooting and helping clients find workarounds for problems or issues they encounter with our tools; you know when to escalate to development and you can duplicate client issues for filing defects. You like to write accurate documentation of known issues and workarounds for internal and external publication.

Your daily job will involve the analysis of customer issues on a wide range of Modeling, Java, Java EE, Semantic Web or C++ technologies, using multiple Eclipse-based development environments.

You will be troubleshooting Rational Software Architect Design Manager deployed to Tomcat and IBM WebSphere Application Server.

You will deal with integrations with other products such as IBM Rational ClearCase, CVS, Rational Team Concert, Rational Requirements Management, Rational Quality Manager (and other Collaborative Lifecycle Management offerings, see: jazz.NET ). You will leverage the knowledge of a large technical community in IBM by collaborating with engineers from different business units to bring integration issues to timely resolution. You will manage critical situations with large customers and you will discuss complex problems with IBM senior developers.

The Center is certified on the Kepner-Tregoe problem determination methodology. You will be trained on this methodology in order to make our consultancy activities efficient and predictable.

We expect you to have matured the following skills:

- Educated to degree level;
- Windows and Linux operating systems; experience as advanced user;
- UML (Unified Modeling Language) 2.2 hands-on knowledge;
- Object Oriented Languages (Java and possibly C++): you understand the customer code and you can detect coding errors and malpractices; you can write code samples to identify and simplify a specific customer problem;
- Java 7 knowledge, including new language features not present in Java 1.4;
- Eclipse: experience as advanced user (Platform, Debug, JDT (Java Development Tools) and possibly CDT (C++ Development Tools), DTP (Data Tools Project), BIRT);
- Client Server environments and protocols (HTTP, XML, SOAP, XML Schemas, WSDL, REST);
- DataBases: any of DB2, Oracle, MS SQL; basic database administration skills; basic database design skills.
- JEE 5 and 6 knowledge. You can write simple examples of code following some of these specifications:
EJB (Enterprise Java Beans) 2.1, 3.0 and 3.1; JPA (Java Persistence Architecture) 1.0 and 2.0; Web Services (JAX-WS and JAX-RS);
- Application Servers (such as Tomcat or WebSphere Application Server, or WebSphere Portal Server but also others are acceptable);
- Troubleshooting Web applications written in JavaScript/Dojo, using AJAX.
- Team work is Embedded in your character;
- Passion for problem solving;
- Excellent communication skills are essential;
- Fluency in English and French or German at native level. Dutch is not required.
