Vacancies: 2 (both Fixed Term Contracts for 12 months)

The successful candidates will be skilful developers and confident communicators. The ability to communicate technical concepts in a concise and instructive manner is essential, alongside a passion for developing web and mobile applications. The individual should be self-motivated and comfortable working both alone and as part of a team.

What can I expect from this role?

As a Graduate Developer you will work with the Technical Research and Partner team, whilst meeting external customers, both potential and existing. During the one year programme, examples of the activities you may be involved in are:

  • Participate and represent Esri UK at developer events and engage the community through startup weekends, meetups, user groups and Hackathons
  • Engage student, startup and professional developer communities in person and online
  • Grow relationships in the developer community
  • Deliver impactful technical content at events and through online channels
  • Define and create technical assets, such as reference apps, starter kits, patterns and practice guidance for use at in-person events and online

What skills do I need?

You will ideally be educated to degree level or above in Computer Science or an IT related subject. Alternatively you should have 3 or more years' experience working in the IT industry with GIS or related technology. You should also have:

  • Sound development/scripting experience and an understanding of core developer concepts such as object orientation, inheritance, modularity, as well as wider concepts such as IDEs, version control, virtualisation
  • An aptitude to think creatively and innovate with technology
  • A creative flair for design, particularly in the arena of user interaction with web applications and other software products
