Systems Administrator - ZFS, Zones, Ldoms, T5s, Solaris, SC Cleared - North yorkshire
Square One are looking for a Systems Administrator to assist the Storage and System team to administer the customers estate ensuring that issues are resolved, changes implemented and potential issues prevented before they occur.
Essential Functions:
- Integrate with the customer's operations team, on site
- Administrate the Oracle Super Cluster Servers and T5s
- Day-to-day operational management of the SUS estate
- Fault finding and Patching
- Administrate Backups and Restores, including tests
- Administrate the ZFS storage appliances
- Create and Improve Processes and Procedures in the customers estate
- Manage the interface with the remote AMR team
- Work with the customers change manager to present changes through the CAB.
- Assist the team with operational acceptance of hardware, builds and assist with developing and Acceptance into Service process.
- This is a key customer facing role
- Working hours will be in shifts of 8 hrs covering from 8am until 8pm.
- The work will involve out of hours call-out for incident work and out of hours working for change implementation.
Required Skills and knowledge:
- Oracle Solaris System Administration, including zones and ldoms and ZFS.
- Solaris Cluster
- Solaris infrastructure services and troubleshooting (LDAP, DNS, NTP)
- Enterprise Manager - Cloud control (12c)
- Enterprise Manager - Ops Center (12c)
- Understanding of ITIL
- Experience of working with Service Management tools [HP Service Desk]
- Good communication skills
- Structured approach to process and procedures
- Basic knowledge of Oracle's Service offering [Hardware, Software etc.)
- Network administration basics
- Previous experience working with Oracle support and with field engineers
- UK Security Clearance
Preferred Knowledge:
- ITIL Foundation Certificate.
- Understanding of Analytical troubleshooting [Kepner Traego]
- Infiniband Networking
- SuperCluster or Exadata administration
- iSCSI boot
- Basic knowledge around Oracle Database Administration
This is a 12 month project based in North yorkshire looking to start on 23rd June 2014 with rates being negotiable. It is compulsary that all engineers on site hold current SC clearance so anyone with this will be highly desirable.
