Description:- Perform sample preparation and metallurgical lab testing related to field and/or factory failures as well as provide competitive analysis and supplier validation.
- Compile data into simple data summaries and reports as needed and interface with associated engineers to disposition failures.
- Sample preparation including the use of a variety of band saws, abrasive saws, hoists and lifting devices, belt and surface grinders.
- Laboratory testing included the use of mounting presses, sample polishers, Rockwell hardness testers, tensile test machines, charpy impact machines and working with various metallurgical chemicals.
Qualifications:
- Advanced laboratory testing including spectro chemical analysis, carbon/sulfur analysis, and scanning electron microscopy, micro-hardness testing and metallography.
- Complete yearly required safety safety training, as well as attend metallurgical classes and seminars.
