My client a global leader in its field requires an Electrical Engineer (Automotive/Heavy Vehicle) on an initial 6 month contract basis. The main purpose of the role is to design vehicle electronic systems, perform engineering investigations and design analysis for the company's specialist vehicle projects.
The ideal candidate would have come from an engineering background, with suitable experience in the design of vehicle electrical and electronic networks. Ideally the candidate will have worked on electrical systems for heavy goods vehicles or specialist vehicles, however other general automotive experience will not be ruled out.
Some of the Key Responsibilities for the role are;
- Develop electrical systems for specialist medium-heavy vehicles including wiring and data bus architectures, wiring harnesses & electrical/electronic component specification, analysis and verification.
- Actively participate in design planning meetings, design reviews and other project meetings
- Able to create, interpret and analysis electrical drawings and technical documents
- Able to create, interpret and analyse drawings of electronic components & systems.
- Able to design, as part of a team, vehicle harnesses conforming to all relevant standards from concept, through testing to implementation
- Integrate systems within vehicle designs
- Provide instructions to design staff
- Maintain design files
- Plan, co-ordinate and supervise developmental tests
- Participate in risk assessments
Some of the experience and key skills required for the role;
- Bachelor of Engineering (Electronics) or equivalent
- Suitable experience in the design of vehicle electrical and electronic networks
- Sound fundamental knowledge of electronic systems and electrical wiring design and construction principles and practices for automotive, or specialist vehicles
- Able to design electrical systems and elements for vehicles with limited guidance
- Able to interpret and analysis drawings and technical electronic documents
- Good understanding of electrical circuit protection strategies and harness construction
- Good understanding of power and data switching devices
