Manufacturing Applications Engineer

The Manufacturing Applications Engineer will oversee implementation of new technologies, processes, and equipment for scaling in-house manufacturing of key components and product lines. This position is responsible for training associated operators ad technicians in the proper use of new equipment and also ensures that all applicable machinery is installed and maintained properly.
  • Leads turnkey system design and implementation including machine design, tooling, fixturing and documentation
  • Oversees and installs, maintains, and trouble-shoots all required machines and support machinery for shop
  • Proactively re-enforces proper safety behaviors and compliance with company policies/procedures
  • Partners with the product development staff in the design and fabrication of devices and machines
  • Trains production staff on the correct operation and maintenance of equipment
  • Verifies component dimensions using various precision measuring devices
  • Recommends design for manufacturing revisions and or material selection
  • Utilizes MasterCam or equivalent software; develop efficient 4-axis+ cutter paths and tooling libraries
  • Create process cycle time estimates
  • Completes projects in an aggressive manner consistent with corporate objetives
  • Proactively communicates delays in project completion to supervisor
  • Must be able to prioritize and support multiple projects
  • Develops and maintains effective working relationships with direct reports, peers and supervisor
  • Maintains accurate records/documentation related to quality, work in process, test results, measurements, labor and special projects
  • Supports company goals and objectives, policies and procedures, good manufacturing practices and FDA regulations
  • Maintain a professional, credible image with consultants, suppliers, and co-workers
  • Performs other duties as assigned


Required Experience:
  • Must have 6 years CNC/CAM programming experience, including advanced CAM for milling and SolidWorks skills
  • Must have 10 years manual machining and CNC machine operation
  • Minimum 5 years experience with process and machine design, tooling and fixtures development and implementation
  • Experience leading and directing a small group of machinists and technicians
  • Comfortable in fast-paced startup environment operating subject to ISO standards
  • Must be willing to also operate at a hands-on level
