Description

This person has to be an excellent communicator, both with business stakeholders and IT counterparts. They have to be able to drive the strategy (subject area, database and Informatica). They will have the support of other teams, but have to be able to manage autonomously as well.

Develop the data migration methodology and implementation plan

Design and develop the data migration tool set

Provide leadership and technical support to the customer project team

Manage and realize the conversion of customer data from legacy and open systems to Oracle databases using a variety of methods such as SQL scripts, Oracle Packages Excel spread sheets (supported by Visual Basic macros) and ETL tools. i.e Informatica

Overall responsibility for Analysis, identification and resolution of data exchange issues.

Advise customer teams on value of which data elements to convert.

Advise customer teams on data accuracy

Recognize and respond by escalating conversion issues in a timely manner to allow for rapid resolution.

Qualifications, skills and competencies:

Strong proven experience leading full lifecycle Data Migration projects

Proven data migration experience, ideally in logistics based applications.

Experience of leading a technical team preferred.

A thorough understanding and experience with the entire data migration process, migrating large data from Oracle based systems; from analysis of existing data, cleansing, validation, translation tables, conversions and subsequent upload into the new platform.

Experience with data manipulation and conversant with moderate to complex SQL query and PL/SQL procedure.

Experience with market leading Extract, Transform and Load (ETL) tools (Informatica), Database Administration (DBA); Visual Basic knowledge.

Demonstrate strong analytical skills in identifying and resolving data exchange issues.

Excellent understanding of logical data models.
