Description
The Manufacturing Engineer is responsible for providing manufacturing engineering knowledge, skill, and ability to handle such tasks as: project management, manufacturing design, prototyping development, and gathering of pertinent background information. Additionally, the Manufacturing Engineer position is a team-based function that is responsible for manufacturing support, process innovation and cost improvement.The focus of this position is on improvements in key operating metrics of: on-time delivery, machine utilization, scrap, productivity improvement, and process capability while ensuring full compliance to FDA and ISO requirements.
- Provides leadership, training and support to the facility operations in an effort to eliminate non-value added activities in all manufacturing and administrative processes and radically improve cycle times as they impact our customers.
- Initiate process innovation, process development and improvement in terms of cost reduction and increase efficiencies on the production line.
- Coordinates production operations with the requirements for finished products and the need for materials and labor.
- Performs, demonstrates and trains new employees on all pertinent manufacturing processes and quality requirements.
- Provides technical leadership in the areas assigned and provide Design for Manufacturing input to R&D, customers and product commercialization teams.
- Designs and implements new tooling, fixturing and capital equipment.
- Works closely with R&D group to assist in and coordinate project transfers.
- Responsible for establishing product requirements, concept prototyping, design and development (including verification and validation), risk/failure mode assessment, performance and safety testing.
- Coordinates time and activities of others and/or serve as a project leader for cross-functional programs.
- Maintains detailed documentation throughout all phases of manufacturing development and transfer phases.
- Review and coordinates outside vendor activities.
- Manages or develops technical solutions to design problems with vendors and in-house resources through design reviews, design audits and prototype analysis.
