In general, the Mechanical/Piping Engineer will function as a assigned to multiple multi-disciplined project teams that will be responsible for developing the conceptual and basic engineering deliverables to serve as the input to proposal development and the detailed engineering design respectively. Mechanical/Piping Engineer is responsible for the design, specification, layout, analysis, documentation, and procurement and construction support of stationary equipment and piping for gas processing and compressor station projects. The position will be primarily responsible for routing and specifying piping and interfaces to equipment such as cryogenic natural gas liquid extraction systems, boilers, gas compressors, mechanical refrigeration systems, gas dehydration equipment, gas filtering/purifying equipment, cooling equipment, etc. as well as conducting cost-benefit studies, providing engineering subcontractor oversight, preparing engineering calculations and documentation, providing test and construction support.

Occasional travel to job site may be required.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Requires good working knowledge of the requirements of ASME (American Society of Mechanical Engineers), ASTM (American Society for Testing & Materials), ANSI (American National Standards Institute), and ICC (International Codes Council).
  • Requires experience in developing Process Flow Diagrams (PFDs), Process & Instrumentation Diagrams (P&IDs), defining piping NDT requirements.
  • Requires experience in plant General Arrangement development, and mechanical system design, including piping and associated calculations.
  • Experience with gas processing plant mechanical systems and piping is desired, including compressors, turbo-expanders, gas dehydration equipment, cryogenic natural gas liquids removal systems, heat exchangers, vessels and tanks, pumps, etc.
  • Relevant experience in the field of mechanical engineering and design (FEED and Detailed Engineering) covering piping, pipelines, statics and other associated installations within the gas processing industry.
  • Skills and capability for reviewing FEED, Detailed Engineering and Construction related deliverables.
  • Capability for providing technical, construction & commissioning support during project execution.


Basic Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree or higher in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent experience.
  • 15+ years experience in the design of gas processing and treating plants or equivalent equipment and piping systems.


Professional Skills/Experience:
  • Aspen HYSYS®, Process Simulator experience.
  • Experience with AutoCAD, CADWORX, NAVISWORKS, and Caesar is required.
  • A broad knowledge of ASME, API, NEC, NFPA, and OSHA terms and guidelines.
