One of our prestigious clients is currently seeking an industry proven Engineer with experience in digital audio development and acoustics for their range of Professional Mobile Radio (PMR) products. You will already be working in a digital audio or digital communications environment with knowledge of Signal Processing and Audio Technology. A good understanding of hardware development practices and software development lifecycles within a commercial, embedded software based product is essential.

You will be part of an enthusiastic team of DSP Engineers working alongside Acoustic Engineers and Technologists. Utilising your experience you will be responsible for implementing new audio algorithms for our mission critical radio products. Familiar with the software development lifecycle, you will be proactive in your approach to the debugging of signal processing software, and supporting the debug of hardware platforms. You will be a strong communicator with the ability to promote your ideas and participate in technical reviews. A senior member of the DSP team, you will be flexible in your approach to designing and implementing new concepts, and support other team members in their endeavours to deliver excellence in product design.

Your responsibilities:
Design, develop and implement new solutions and test frameworks for audio features on our range of professional mobile radio products.
Manage DSP S/W software releases to manufacturing.
Regression and integration testing of products.
Resolving design issues through innovation.
Providing technical guidance to junior members of the project team.
Conducting requirement analysis to identify technical solutions and create estimates.
Proposes and supports process and/or product improvement initiatives.

Your skills and personal attributes:
Previous experience in a digital audio environment with knowledge of Signal Processing and Audio Technology.
Good knowledge of C programming language in real-time systems with related experience in software design and debugging of hardware and software using debug tools and techniques in low level target software such as JTAG emulators.
Familiarity of working in a PC and/or UNIX based environment.
Practical appreciation of analogue and digital electronic hardware and some familiarity of standard engineering tools.
Suitably qualified with a degree in Engineering being desirable.
Enthusiasm and excellent communication skills to promote your ideas and concepts.
Be a team player who adopts a flexible approach to working within a team environment and the willingness to support other team members to achieve their goals.
Experience and knowledge of Matlab/Simulink and configuration management and fault tracking tools is desirable.
Experience in developing using Texas Instruments OMAP devices and UML design experience in developing real-time systems is desirable for this role but not essential.
Be available to undertake occasional travel within the UK and overseas.
