One of prestigious clients is currrently looking for a Principal RF Engineer. The successful candidate will be responsible for the specification, design and test of RF subsystems for TETRA platforms and products.Description of the Role:
Workscope
RF architecture specification and design
RF design from initial concept to mass-production
Design of receivers, transmitters, VCOs and synthesisers
Component specification and sourcing
Block, subsystem and product integration testing
Resolution of design and integration issues
Type approval support
Support design, testing and troubleshooting in other areas of the product as appropriate (software/DSP/mechanical/baseband)
Technical support to end customers and subcontract manufacturers.
Progress reporting.
Mentoring junior engineers
Technical ownership and project team lead for RF development
Technical skills (essential):
Applicant will have skills and experience in all of the following areas:
RF design at chain/block/circuit level
Analogue design.
RF simulation tools (e.g. Genesys, ADS, Microwave Office)
Portable product design
Technical skills (desirable):

VHF/UHF design
TETRA/GSM/DECT etc. design
GPS/WiFi/Bluetooth design
LTE design
Basestation design
Discrete VCO design
Synthesiser design
Receiver design
Cartesian loop transmitter design
Transmitter linearization techniques .e.g. pre-distortion (analogue/digital)
ADS simulation
Transmit/receiver converter specification (SNR, rates)
Mixed signal design and simulation
FIR filter design
MATLAB / Simulink
Control algorithm design
Architecture design
Discrete linear PA design
Printed coupler/balun design
CST Microwave Studio
Antenna design
Design for ESD protection.
Design for EMC.
Power supply design (analogue and SMPS).
