Role Description
The role of the Safety Case Author will be to assist the Nuclear Safety Engineer in providing safety case services in support of maintaining and updating the Safety Cases and to carry out supporting work for the development and review of the Safety Case where appropriate

Objective
The Safety Case Author is responsible for: * Producing and reviewing Safety Cases. * Completion of specified safety case work to appropriate standards of safety, cost, quality and time. * Providing safety case technical support to the plant. * Managing and formally reporting on Safety Case related procedures, documentation and reviews. * Carrying out special tasks and nominated roles as appropriate when required by business needs. * Contribution to Site Lifetime Plans. * Supporting the Nuclear Safety Engineer in managing the Plant Modification and Safety Case processes * Provision of specified services to internal/external customers to agreed standards. * Provide advice and guidance on issues appropriate to his/her working area. * Active involvement in improvement initiatives/projects. * To carry out designated work packages to standards of safety, cost, quality and time. * To set objectives and standards, ensuring resource and information available to complete specified tasks. * Within set limits of control, deal with queries or anomalies relating to the groups' activities otherwise refer upwards.

Essential/Desirable Skills
Understanding of the company philosophy and policies on quality assurance, quality control and environmental issues together with the underlying principles and supporting procedures. Awareness of health and safety legislation, which impacts on the responsibilities of the post. The knowledge and expertise required for the post is obtained from a combination of education, training and experience.

The post holder requires: * A knowledge of the site licence, legislation and regulations associated with safe operation. * Broad knowledge of emergency requirements. * Broad knowledge of industrial safety and safety standards. * Knowledge and understanding of the reactor safety case. * Knowledge of nuclear power reactor design, safety, operation and performance including an understanding of the same aspects for conventional plant. * Broad knowledge of the company structures and interfaces within the Magnox Limited organisation. * Management and leadership skills to develop and motivate section staff to achieve section and site objectives. * An understanding of the company requirements for the management and delivery of projects by the utilisation of Magnox Limited or outside resources
