Duration: 6 month daily rate contract with view to extension

An industry leading software company, who supplies all the major players in the financial industry, are looking to take on a Senior Linux System Engineer to join their service delivery team. This is a 100% hands on role and as a Senior Linux System Engineer you will be well rounded in the following technologies: Application server, Webserver, Linux, Oracle database, Virtualisation and scripting experience.
They are starting a major data-center consolidation project which is seeing their key engineer move into a more project orientated role. This position is to back fill the day to day operations within their 24X7, challenging production environment. You will also have the opportunity to get involved with the more project orientated work once you become familiar with the infrastructure.
You will become the key point of contact for issues, troubleshooting and escalating to other departments and working closely with them for service improvements.
You will get the opportunity to work within an environment supporting big data through HPCC. You will be responsible for code deployment from test through to live production. You will be working in an ever more integrated development and operations environment as they move to a DevOps culture of collaboration and communication.
Minimum Requirements:
- Application Server Administration
- Webserver Experience
- UNIX / Linux
- Oracle database 11g
- Virtualisation experience
- Scripting languages

- Testing
- Networking
- Hardware knowledge
- SAN Storage
- Monitoring (Nagios, etc.)
