NATURE AND SCOPE OF POSITION4.1 Organisation Context
4.1.1 Job Holder reports to:
Generally the Section Leader, Project Discipline Engineer, otherwise the Manager E,C & I.
4.1.2 Reporting to the Job Holder when required on a project or proposal are:
a) Designers of all grades
b) CAD Operators
c) Technician Apprentices
4.2 Contacts
a) Drawing Office Staff of other disciplines
b) Information Technology Staff
c) Technical Clerks
4.3 Decision Making Authority
a) Checking of project documents.
b) Administration and control of drawing office staff assigned to a project when acting as the Project Discipline Designer.
4.4 Problems and Challenges
4.4.1 Work is assigned in terms of specific project tasks. Work is carried out within broad guidelines but informed guidance is readily available. Work is reviewed for soundness of approach but usually accepted as technically accurate and feasible subject to project requirements for checking and approval of discipline documents.
4.4.2 May give technical guidance to designers of less experience assigned to a common project but supervision of other designers is not usually a regular or continuing responsibility.

KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS
5.1Knowledge and Capability
5.1.1Good knowledge of design working practices and installation requirements of the discipline in a range of industries.
5.1.2Proven capability as a Designer by the successful execution of a number of projects.
5.2Experience
A commensurate amount of demonstratable experience with a proven track record as a Designer on several projects in a similar environment.
Qualifications
ONC / OND / HNC / HND or equivalent qualification + demonstratable experience
