Description
CAD Draughtsperson - £200 - £210 a day,
5 Months, London
Responsible for providing Computer Aided Design (CAD) and drafting support within a team of AutoCAD specialists for the Directorate and externally commissioned requests.
To promote best practice and to assist in the development of the AutoCAD team and strategy as part of an integrated design service.
1. Prepare and amend, via a Computer Aided Design (CAD) package, digitised maps of traffic engineering design drawings from sketches supplied by engineers
2. Preparation and amendment of presentational maps, engineering drawings, consultation materials, visualisations and diagrammatic information
3. To act as a contact for CAD within their team and to represent the business and the CAD user community.
4. To review and audit the standard of drawings produced for draughting staff and engineers.
5. To help develop the departmental CAD strategy, ensuring that company wide policies and standards are adhered to as well as contractual responsibilities.
6. Monitoring of CAD's/draughting equipment (including printers, computer hardware and software) and reporting deficiencies and/or defects.
7. Attendance of site visits to check measurements and survey information.
8. Organise workload in such as way as to ensure targets for the production of drawings are
Required
* The use of AutoCAD software and mainstream affiliated traffic engineering software, essential
* Methodical and analytical approach to work, persistent nature and integrity for maintaining a comprehensive drawing standard
* Conscientious approach to work, with the ability to identify the need for change and think of new ways to produce visual design drawings
* Ability to define, analyse and prioritise business and project requirements
* Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing, with people at all levels across the organisation and externally
Experience required:
* Experience of working in a CAD & GIS office environment
* Experience in traffic engineering
* Experience of drafting design drawings
* Experience in working within a team
* Experience of attending site for the checking and verification of survey information and designs.
* Knowledge of Geographic Information Systems (GIS) and spatial features from AutoCAD to ArcGIS or MapInfo, desirable
* Knowledge in the production of AutoCAD standards and promotion of best practice, desirable.
* Knowledge in the production of consultation materials and design visualisation drawings, desirable
