Description
Our client is a British multinational energy and utility company. They are an industry leader in electricity transmission and energy distribution with a customer base in the millions.
They are now looking to recruit an Instrument Technician to be based in Northumberland on an initial 6 month contract with a view to permanent position. The successful candidate will become a member of a small team of Technicians and will have a core discipline, but will be expected to work as part of a multi-disciplined team.
Technicians will be expected to undertake all aspects of installation, commissioning, operation, repair and maintenance within their respected discipline of either mechanical, electrical or instrumentation.
Job dimensions:
*Ensuring that critical spares and stock attributable to their sphere of competence are available on site when required
*Minimising waste in terms of time and material
*Communicating with others to ensure that plant maintenance is forward planned and understood
Tasks:
*To ensure the completion of maintenance in accordance with company procedures
*To carry out such work in a safe and cost effective manner
*Keeping up to date with technical advances and industry standards
*When required, prepare reports of activities on technical matters relating to areas of work within the jobholder's sphere of responsibility
*To participate in design and costing of minor modification work
*Preparation of plans and procedures for operations that may affect the network, for liaising with control room staff, and when necessary, taking part in the authorisation process for non-complex tasks
*In the absence of either Assistant Engineer, MDE or GFE Technicians are expected to oversee activities carried out by contractors on site
*In carrying out these duties the successful candidates will comply with the Health & Safety at Work Act 1974, by taking all reasonable care to ensure the health and safety of themselves and others around them
