Description

Ecommerce giant is looking for a dynamic and passionate individual to join its data warehouse team to work on development on one of their flagship applications. The role is suited for developers experienced with Data Warehousing and development using SQL and Unix Shell Scripting, who also has good data analysis and client facing skills.

Data warehouse Developer Key responsibilities:

  • Working to maximize the utility of data within the business (deliver value from data).
  • Understanding and translating high-level database designs to detailed design that can be implemented by the DWH team.
  • Monitors and supervises day to day activities of the development team including work breakdown, code reviews, unit testing, launch plans and overall ownership of schedule and quality
  • Managing the incorporation of new data into our data solutions.
  • Encourages individual and team efforts to innovate around product design and development
  • Communicates the technical vision and leads assigned team through the development process, leveraging development resources from multiple locations, including outsourced teams
  • Recognizes design or development deficiencies and implements effective solutions
  • Communicates the value of and enforces sound engineering design process and quality practices, software estimation, coding standards, technical documentation standards, QA processes, build, and configuration management;
  • Develops and maintains detailed software engineering and development plans and resource allocation
  • Being an authority on our data toolsets and methodologies and influencing projects in their use

Data warehouse Developer Essential Skills:

  • Database and Data warehouse development using SQL
  • ETL coding with Unix Shell Scripts
  • ETL process knowledge (toolsets and methodologies)
  • Kimball's Data Warehousing methodology principles
  • Communicating complex technical issues clearly
  • Capable of challenging data/processes to meet the business requirements
  • Developing innovative or effective approaches to solving business problems
  • Being able to resolve data issues that occur on inbound data
  • Being able to mentor others to ensure data related knowledge transfer and quality of deliverables
