£200-£250 per day (negotiable for London based candidate)

I am currently working with a leading West Midlands based client who is looking to recruit a Category Manager to join their already successful team.

Requirements:

It is essential you have at least 5 years Category Management experience to be considered.

You must have the Category experience within both Direct and Indirect's it is essential you have experience with at least 3 of the categories below:

Direct - INDUSTRIAL, TECHNICAL AND SERVICE SUBCONTRACTING
Direct - ENERGY, CHEMICAL MATERIALS AND PRODUCTS
Direct - OPERATING EQUIPMENT AND SUPPLIES
Direct - MOBILE AND MOTORISED EQUIPMENT
Indirect - GENERAL PURCHASING
Indirect - INTELLECTUAL SERVICES
Indirect - IT AND TELECOMMUNICATION

The role holder must have practical experience in a range of procurement activities and service/commodity areas. Be able to demonstrate evidence of supplier relationship management, be able to relate to, and be influential with, representatives from all levels of the organisation - including operational and technical experts and Senior Directors both internal and external where applicable.
The categories that will be covered by the role holder will be as follows; Industrial, Technical and Service Subcontracting energy, Chemical materials and products, operating equipment and supplies, mobile and motorised equipment, general purchasing, intellectual services and IT and telecommunication.

Key responsibilities:

* Establish cost efficient supply sources for all bought - in goods and services whilst ensuring that these match agreed operational standards, specifications and budgeted cost levels.
* Contribute to an on-going programme of cost reduction.
* Purchasing performance/value for money measurement and analysis.
* Facilitate group collaboration in order to leverage maximum procurement benefits.
* Utilise the procurement process in all relevant areas of expenditure.
* Develop and manage effective supply strategies in respect of various spend areas.

Standard Qualifications:

* Degree level educated
* As an absolute minimum, be part CIPS qualified
* A sound and up to date knowledge of contract law and contract drafting ability is required.

Practical:

* Advanced negotiation and influencing skills.
* Ability to define communicate and deliver supply chain strategies and policies to all levels of the organisation.
* Strategic vision with the ability to maximise supplier performance in cost effective, productive relationships.
* Enthusiasm and ability to work as an integral member of the wider business team.
* Be able to facilitate the development/preparation of specifications, RfQ's and Invitations to Tender, through to commercial evaluation/negotiation, contract award and post award administration.
* Management of direct and indirect categories is essential.
* Private sector experience is essential.
