Our client is one of the UK's leading power companies, generating electricity and retailing power and gas. They are also one of the world's largest investor owned power companies employing nearly 80,000 worldwide.

They are now looking to improve their coal, gas and oil-fired power stations as well as producing more energy from renewable sources.

With this in mind they are now looking to recruit a Mechanical Engineer who will be based on site at one of their power stations on a 12 month contract.

The successful candidate will:

On behalf of the Team Leader, deliver the integrity and performance of three CCGT assets across two sites through investigation, improvement of the maintenance strategy, projects and outages.

To do so within resource and financial guidelines to ensure the operation, engineering health, integrity and performance of the asset in a safe, efficient and compliant manner, in coordination with the Maintenance Delivery Teams and the Production department, maximising the commercial benefit. Deliver (and support the development of) long term maintenance strategy

*Undertake projects, inspection regimes, analysis, modifications and changes to maintenance strategy in support of long term asset integrity, performance against Key Performance Indicators and compliance with all relevant company policies and statutory legislation. (eg Obsolescence, component lifetime extension, inspection regime, asset life extension)
*Improve the efficiency & effectiveness of maintenance strategy in line with company strategy and best practice including:
oMaster Data for assets, activities, strategies and zero-base budgets
oTechnical history recording and analysis Review and improvement of data and processes
oRecording of and action to improve performance against Key Performance Indicators and business plan
oDrive and embed quality systems via the Maintenance Management Programme process as per company policy.
oDeliver and Manage Outages
*Lead all long term outages including but not limited to Interim and Major outages and support the planning, co-ordination and delivery of all outages. Draw upon the knowledge and experience of other Engineers and Operators
*Deliver safely and to programme, budget and quality.
*Plan and deliver outages in the spirit of the Outage Best Practice handbook. Contract Management
*Production of contract specifications to support tendering process and contract placement..Subsequent management of these contracts in full compliance with defined contract roles and nominations. As a part of all activities and in line with company policies and legal requirements:
*Actively promote a culture of health, safety, environmental awareness and quality; seek out improvements in all these areas and directly contribute to their development, planning and delivery.
*Ensure best practice is employed by networking and benchmarking comparisons with other departments, plants, engineers, industries and internal teams to achieve optimum levels of performance, revenue and capital expenditure. This is a flexible role across two sites and will respond to business needs on a requirement basis.

Health and Safety requirements

*Positive work ethic with the confidence to challenge established practices.
*An understanding of health, safety and environmental legislation and standards and a positive safety mind set possessing the ability to drive the correct safety culture in others..Relevant safety qualification: IOSH - Managing Safely or NEBOSH
*Extensive experience of safely managing contractors

Industry Qualifications

*An extensive understanding of Power Station operations or similar process industry..Educated to a Higher National Certificate/degree level or equivalent, or with equivalent extensive and relevant experience.
*Full understanding of and ability to deliver Maintenance best practice.
*Work towards an accreditation with a professional body.
*Full understanding and delivery of SAP & Maintenance best practice.
*Application of root cause analysis and detailed understanding of the EFQM or a similar, recognised, quality model.
*Be able to understand and retain knowledge current policies and procedures
*Financial and commercial awareness associated with the activities of the role including management and preparation of delegated budgets.
*Understanding of policies & procedure's which affect the management and operations of engineering assets.
*Sound financial, commercial and contract management skills.
*Excellent communication & project management skills.
*Strong planning, investigation, organising and prioritising skills
