One of our prestigious clients in Edinburgh is looking for an ambitious Quality Assurance Engineer to join them on a permanent basis and become an integral member of the team.

The jobholder will be responsible for testing, documentation and support of Production Optimisation software products. The job involves initiating testing, documentation and user support activities. It will involve working within an Agile Scrum team delivering on tight Sprint schedules.

Key Activities;


  • Gaining thorough understanding of requirements


  • Designing system test program to prove compliance with requirements


  • Performing and documenting testing activities throughout development life cycle


  • Writing user documentation


  • Refining on-screen navigation, text and usability (in conjunction with developers)


  • Producing user training material


  • Use of the project issue tracking system


  • Develop automated test scripts and manage test software.


  • Execute regression tests, functional tests and data tests.


  • Report, track and verify detected problems with software.


  • Work with technical staff to isolate and reproduce problems with software and verify their resolution.


  • Verify bugs fixed as a result of customer complaints with software.


  • Able to configure and demonstrate our software.

    Experience;

    Essential:


  • Minimum 2 - 3 years Software QA experience.


  • Experience in engineering or scientific discipline to professional level


  • Experience in software or engineering project organisation and management


  • Extensive use of office productivity applications to level of "power user".


  • Knowledge of main issues and processes in software development.


  • A good understanding of and comfort configuring a variety of the current Microsoft Operating Systems.


  • Attention to detail.


  • Strong communication skills and teamwork.


Preferred:


  • Experience in C#/.NET software Development


  • Knowledge of XML, XML Data Standards and XML Web Services


  • Experience in petroleum engineering.


  • Knowledge of project management methods and tools


  • Experience in developing and/or testing technology applications


  • Experience with automated testing tools and environments


  • Working in a Agile Scrum team.
