PhishMe is seeking a motivated individual to join its software development team. The successful candidate will have at least some professional experience (internships or professional jobs held as a student are valid). This is a full time position working for PhishMe. Outsourced or software development contractors should not apply.

Qualifications

Successful applicants must be:

  • Comfortable working remotely from your private office (not the coffee shop)
  • Comfortable remote pair programming in a terminal environment
  • Comfortable working independently but pragmatic about when to reach out to the team for help
  • Able to balance working on bugs with working on new features
  • Able to organize your work into clear pieces with estimated goals
  • Able to communicate effectively as part of a remote-work focused company
  • Able to write clear, maintainable code
  • Helpful and available to other developers when they need to pair up
  • Understanding of when brute force or ugly code wins out over an elegant solution
  • Available to work for eight solid hours per day where at least five overlap with 8am to 6pm EST
  • Available during off-hours when scheduled for on-call rotation
  • Available for occasional travel
  • A US resident


  • Your experience should demonstrate that you:
  • Are eager to learn and able to understand and apply new things relatively quickly
  • Understand version control (bonus points for git experience)
  • Have at least some hands-on Rails experience


  • It would really be outstanding if you:
  • Have attained a four-year degree in something (…anything)
  • Have customer support experience (retail, help desk, consulting, etc.)
  • Have solid Ruby and Rails knowledge
  • Are comfortable with advanced Git usage: rebase, rebase -i, merge –no-ff
  • Are able to list some sources you use to keep current with programming news
  • Are fluent in SQL

  • Are comfortable with regular expressions
  • Have basic image creation and manipulation skills
  • Aren't dogmatic about any aspect of development, even testing
  • Know not to click links in suspicious emails
