Description
My client, a global Medical Device, has a 12 month contract to hire position available for a Mechanical Engineer. The hourly rate for this position ranges from $30 - $45.The primary responsibility of the Mechanical Engineer is in mechanical/design engineering and drug delivery for continuous improvement of drug/device combination product line. Support biopharmaceutical products with the skills for drug delivery in device design / design modeling / tooling / molding / lab testing, development and manufacturing for high volume productions utilizing GMP and ISO standards. Experience in partnering with third party manufacturing for production is preferred.
As a Mechanical Engineer, you are responsible for:
- Mechanical /design in medical device 3-D design with focus on CAD/CAM system for device parts design and tool/mold design for high volume injection molded plastics components and their assemblies
- Geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T) of device part and tool/mold and design system stackup analysis
- MoldFlow (fill, pack, cool, warp, gate and vent) analysis for mold/tool design and their simulation to determine the manufacturability of device part and improve components quality
- Stress analysis on component and assemblies using finite element analysis (FEA) and thermal and also using fluid flow analysis by computational fluid dynamics (CFD)
- Review of product design and tool design and using Pro/E, Pro/Mechanica, Pro/Surface CD tools for analysis and for product improvement
Skills required:
- Experience in device components injection molding and scientific decoupled molding process for targeted part dimensions and in subassemblies of molded parts for function verification
- Experience in polymeric materials associated with design and molding for disposable medical device materials selection that balances both cost and performance at the mass scale of production to deliver device targeted functionality
- Experience in system integration of design, materials, process, equipment and assembly for medical device and experience in device functionality testing of components and subassemblies
- Experience in verifying and testing functional prototypes and verifying specs for commercial production
- Experience in design FMEA analysis for combination drug/device, user FMEA analysis and process FMEA analysis of disposable medical devices
Qualifications needed:
- BS with preferred 5-10 years of experience
- MS with preferred 3-10 years of experience
- Pharm. D / Ph. D with preferred 2-8 years of experience
