IT Business Analyst Consultant - Greenwood Village, Colorado

Job Summary - This 6 month contract opportunity is for an IT Business Analyst Consultant role for a major health care provider.  The individual in this role will build relationships with business partners, developing an understanding of their current business environment. Along with the Portfolio Manager, they will assist in identifying opportunities and provide guidance for turning those into workable programs by documenting scope, current and future states of business processes, and developing a business case. Additionally, they will provide expertise on business analysis standards and techniques, coach and develop lower level resources, and implement process improvements within the SPM Business Consulting team. 

Once the program or project is approved, this resource will provide project support for identification of impacted business processes and definition of requirements. As part of an IT project team, this individual will represent the business partner and work closely with solution designers and data architects to ensure delivered systems meet business's requirements. The person is expected to model internal consulting practices as well as champion the use of industry standard approaches including use cases, context diagrams, and business process modelling to define and manage program and project requirements. 

Ø Maintains knowledge of both the big picture as well as the details of the project; understands how project supports a larger strategy 
Ø Independently initiates, investigates, documents, and analyzes clients' business requirements in complex environment 
Ø Manages customer expectations during the requirements gathering process 
Ø Develops workflows, process models and performs gap analysis 
Ø Identifies overlaps and related processes 
Ø Independently assesses scope and impact of client business needs to define a project and may be relied upon to ensure this information is successfully transitioned to the project execution team 
Ø Identifies and communicates opportunities for increasing business efficiency through improved manual and automated process systems. 
Ø Develops complex business cases for proposed IT projects that are used at management and executive levels for funding and scope decisions.- understands elements of a business case and how to put one together. 
Ø Plans, leads, coordinates and conducts the analysis of client business processes and functional requirements and the preparation of appropriate documentation to communicate and validate the information. 
Ø Conducts workflows, process diagrams and gap analysis to identify needs. 
Ø Identifies other IT initiatives that exist and ensures that efforts are not duplicated. 
Ø May develop cross-initiative integration plans. 
Ø Maintains current knowledge of application systems, interfaces, reporting processes, and data capture. 
Ø Maintains current knowledge on health care industry, regulations,  organizations business strategies. 
Ø May provide specialized support to a specific business area. 
Ø Chooses, recommends, creates and/or adopts techniques, standards and methodologies related to the business analysis discipline. 
Ø Makes recommendations for improvements to organizations standards/methodologies. 
Ø Advises clients on the consequences of actions. 
Ø Communicates risks and ensures understanding of these risks. 
Ø Acts as a liaison between business clients and technical staff and/or with development staff throughout the project life cycle. 
Ø Coaches as appropriate. 
Ø Acts as a knowledgeable resource for lower-level staff. 
Ø Monitors and provides feedback on work products of lower level resources. 
Ø Provides on-the-job training on Business Analysis techniques and methodologies. 

Basic Qualifications 
Bachelor's Degree in MIS, Computer Science, or related field or 4 years of equivalent business experience 
5 years experience in requirements management to include gathering and documenting requirements 
3 years of experience in IT, preferably software development 
Proven experience communicating to both technical and business teams 
Hands-on expertise in use case development and business process modelling 
Strong analytical, written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills 
Able to work collaboratively within a team 
Self-motivated 
Customer focused 
Hands-on expertise with the Microsoft Office toolkit 

Preferred Qualifications 
Experience in a Lead or Supervisor role 
Experience in the healthcare industry including insurance 
Experience with Agile methodology 
Consulting experience 
Certified Business Analysis Professional (CBAP®) 

Minimum number of years of experience required - 5 year experience in requirements management to include gathering and documenting requirements, preferable at least 3 years in IT 

Top 3 - 5 Daily responsibilities business requirements analysis, working on process improvement teams, training and/or coaching for quality in the Business Analysis/Consulting area
