Senior System and Operations Engineer - Netherlands

1x Senior System and Operations Engineer - Voorburg, Netherlands  is needed in, on contract base in Netherlands  (Voorburg) for one of our clients, a prestigious international Telecommunications Company. Eligibility to work in Netherlands and fluent English language skills are a prerequisite for an application. Start date will be .

Scope of work:

  • Operate and Maintain the Operation Systems & Data environment, like Operation Systems, backup and storage, Data applications and systems of T-Mobile Netherlands in accordance with the defined Service Level Agreements, through incident, problem and change management processes.
  • Technical operational interface for relevant third party equipment suppliers and DTAG.
  • Reduce the cost of ownership of T-Mobile NL's networks through best-in-class utilization of networks, cost-effective operation and maintenance practices, supported by high degree of automation and using the most efficient amount of people which have the right skills.
  • Continuous improvement of Network/Service  Quality., KPIs, SLA's and technology processes

Responsibilities:

  • Resolve incidents by register, analyze, co-ordinate and guard progress, update incident tickets
  • Resolve incidents by co-ordinate 2nd/3rd line supplier support
  • Implement changes by administrate, analyze, plan, check, feedback (propose alternatives), test (rollback checks) and execute changes in line with change management process
  • Resolve problems by performing root cause analysis and implement changes for Operation Systems & Data domain/services/elements
  • Manage or perform installation of network equipment and basic configurations of all Operation Systems & Data  systems
  • Coordinate and perform all required activities to recover from major network failures. Perform first line maintenance using established operations procedures and practices. Supply work around solutions in case of persistent faults.
  • Actively improve efficiency and implement new tools supporting end to end quality improvement and visibility.
  • Responsible for operational acceptance new systems/applications
  • Responsible for the continuous performance of applications/systems by supporting performance management process with Operation Systems & Data domain/element specific investigations
  • Responsible for operational acceptance new systems/applications
  • Advices management in improvement proposals
  • Support and manage improvement projects
  • Coordination of tasks
  • Knowledge share within team (WIKI updates, documenting workarounds, working procedures)
  • Creates operational procedures for incident and problem management for 1st line departments
  • Reports on progress problem management towards service manager
  • Reports/presents progress reports on above topics
  • Coaching of Support and System Engineers
  • Supports team manager on organizing and planning team and coordinates on task level
  • 7*24 hour 2nd line support through on call
  • Replacement team manager.
  • Responsible for all related operational and HR tasks delegated by the team manager

Requirements:

  • Bachelor or Master degree or equivalent level gained by experience, in Information Technology/Electronics/Telecommunications/Data communications Engineering
  • Experience with ICT operations and maintenance support
  • Be able to judge on operational acceptance complex new systems/applications
  • At least 5-7 years of experience as an operational System administrator or in Data system support
  • Good understanding of mobile and ISP network architecture (GSM, GPRS, UMTS, IP, Internet)
  • Valid drivers license
  • English language skills (good verbal and written)
  • Experienced in ITIL processes
  • Outstanding  knowledge of OSS  infrastructure (UNIX/Linux(admin 1 &2 level), SUN, HP, Windows OS, Cisco, TCP/IP, SQL (Oracle/Informix), Scripting, Microsoft IIS, Apache, ftp, ssh, Citrix, SNMP, Corba, LDAP
  • Outstanding knowledge OSS services/applications like Netact,Traffica, Huawei U2000. Anritsu/Masterclaw, Cisco Works, HP Openview
  • Outstanding knowledge of/experience with Windows OS (Filesystems, Memory Architecture, Platform architecture, Active Directory)
  • In depth knowledge of/experience with VMWare ESX, Remedy and System and application testing.
  • Good knowledge of/experience with host/network security (eg VPN, Firewall setup and administration)
  • Excellent knowledge of/experience with enterprise backup solutions (preferably Veritas NetBackup)
  • Excellent knowledge of storage archtitectures
  • Basic understanding of GSM network architecture (GSM, GPRS, UMTS)
  • Outstanding knowledge of applicable test and measuring tools
  • System and performance monitoring.
  • In depth knowledge of protocols(HTTP(S), SOAP,  IPSEC, DNS(SEC),  Radius, Diameter, TCP/IP, SCTP, SS7, FTP, SSH, SNMP, iSCSI, WAP, MMS)
  • Good knowledge of high availability systems and storage (clustered, farmed), preferably SAN infrastructure(Sun unified storage 7000 series)
  • Team player

  • Discipline on process adherence, reporting and administration
  • Be able to work under high operational pressure/stress
