Job Description
This is an exciting opportunity to work as an RF/Microwave Contract Engineer to help my client create Next Generation Electronic Surveillance and Electronic Counter Measures products for use in Fast Jets, UAVs, Land and Naval platforms.
The successful candidate for this position will have many years of experience in RF design or Test and would have an Electronics or Physics qualification to degree level or HND/HNC.

Skills, qualifications & knowledge
Qualifications
* Degree/HND/HNC in either Electronics, Electronics & Communications, Physics or Applied Physics
* Good computer skills for analysis and presentation of data and possibly design modelling

Required Skills
* Extensive experience of RF/Microwave testing, techniques and test equipment (eg VNAs, power meters, Oscilloscopes etc.) with component level fault finding
* MS Office for data analysis, presentation and reporting.
* Ability to create Test Documents and Design reports to a high standard
* Some experience of Microwave CAE (ADS and/or MWO)
* Good interpersonal and presentational skills
* Energetic with an ability to work on your own and as part of a team
* Analytical and a good problem solver
* Knowledge of circuit techniques for RF circuit and MMIC design.

Desired Skills
* Good working knowledge of LabView/LabWindows or TestStand
* Sub-system partitioning, schematic design and capture, RF board design, RF micro-strip design, frequency planning.
* Device level circuit modelling relevant to RF circuit and MMIC design
* Microwave E/M simulation using tools such as Momentum/CST Microwave Studio

Desired Knowledge
* Wideband circuit design (2 - 20 GHz preferably)
* HPA and LNA design
* Microwave module design
* RFOW testing
* Knowledge of basic project management and planning techniques
* Experience of cost estimating and cost management

Key responsibility areas
* You will already have experience working in RF/Microwave Design or Test & Support
* You will have experience and knowledge in Comms, Radar and Satellite Bands (typically 1-20GHz).
* Depending on your RF/Microwave skills and experience you may be involved in detailed design or you may provide valuable test and design proving support
* You may have experience using design tools such as AWR Microwave Office, Agilent ADS, Genesys, CST Microwave Studio, Mentor Graphics RF PCB.
* You might have experience of working with many different disciplines and levels (eg Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing, Supply Line) in order to turn your work into a finished product
* The successful candidate will be expected to quickly become self sufficient, effective and valued part of a busy Engineering team
