Senior Project Manager (PMO)

Summary:

This role provides project leadership, management and oversight on behalf of the company's Software Deployment and Development efforts. Projects may be new market implementations, product feature enhancements and client-requested changes. Projects vary depending on size and scope and will require flexibility and may require tailored project management solutions. This position requires day-to-day interaction with project team personnel, communication with key stakeholders, including clients and client services, and subject matter experts to ensure successful project execution. This role will also include direct interaction with a broad range of senior, technical and functional management and subject matter experts throughout the organization. The Senior Project Manager is accountable for the successful delivery of the project and is expected to be a driver of the project, as opposed to a tracker. The Senior Project Manager will also be responsible for proactively identifying and mitigating risks/issues and keeping the current status updated in the company's tracking systems.

Responsibilities:

  • Scope, estimate and develop project plans in accordance with the client's needs as early as pre-selling activities, through proposal scoping, project start up, execution and completion. This role will cover the entire project life cycle
  • Provide hands-on project management and actively manage project plan, deliverables, dependencies and outcome for selected project(s) as approved by senior management and key stakeholders to ensure that the project goals and objectives are achieved within the project timeframe and guidelines established by the relevant stakeholders and management committees
  • Obtain approval from key client stakeholders when project is completed and close the project
  • Prepare communication plan and related project status reports to key stakeholders and governance bodies (as appropriate) to provide project updates on activities and deliverables, as well as risks and mitigation strategies
  • Define and manage overall change control processes and quality assurance aspects of the project to ensure project success
  • Identify and manage overall project dependencies and ensure project deliverables stay on-time, on-target and on-budget
  • Define and manage overall project risk identification and mitigation process through interaction with project constituents and stakeholders
  • Identify on a timely basis all project barriers and work with key stakeholders to identify strategies and approaches to overcome these barriers
  • Define and implement the appropriate change management strategy and plans to ensure that change management concerns are addressed during and after project implementation, as well as to ensure that the project impact is sustainable and supported by the business process owners
  • Understand and be able to train end users on application functionality and operational procedures implemented
  • Understand the company and EDI application to know what is impacted with market changes and market implementations
  • Keep client updated during the lifetime of a project
  • Coach and mentor project team members as part of a continuous improvement process
  • Recommend procedural and methodology changes to improve efficiency
  • Possible travel of up to 15% to client sites or to other company offices

Qualifications:

  • Possess a BS Degree and at least 3 years' experience in a Project Management role
  • A strong sense of urgency, initiative and drive to get things done correctly, with an emphasis on working with people and the shepherding a project through the process
  • Strong relationship building skills are a must
  • Strong organization skills required, including a thorough understanding of how to manage projects of different sizes from start to finish
  • Strong external client management skills
  • Previous experience presenting/discussing issues and ideas to management and the ability to motivate team resources towards goals
  • Ability to organize and work effectively with project teams of staff from department and clients participating in this effort
  • Excellent analytical and multi-tasking skills, including the proven ability to adapt to a dynamic project environment and manage multiple projects
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills as the project manager is responsible for reporting status to internal and external audiences
  • The proven ability to manage key stakeholder interests in an evolving culture while at the same time managing conflicting priorities and business interests
  • Excellent time management, goal setting and prioritization capability
  • Preferences:
    • Degree in Computer Science, Engineering or other technical discipline
    • Experience with .NET and SQL Server
    • Experience working in a Agile SCRUM based environment
    • Professional services or consulting experience
