Skills and experience:
- Hardware skills (xSeries, pSeries, nSeries)
- Optional skills on third party Hardware (Dell, HP, Sun)
- Perform Hardware installations and removals, including proper cable management
- Perform first Hardware issue determination (create dump, analyse, report)
- Documentation: Update processes and procedures where needed
- Perform intelligent Hand and Eyes services (able to interpret messages or warning signals of hardware components)
- Basic knowledge of xSeries OS (hardware)
- Basic knowledge of network configuration (RSA, IP range, subnet mask)
- Good communication skills (clear and objective reporting)
- Escalate to other teams when required
- Able to work in team
- Adhere to datacentre conduct guidelines
Description of work:
Installation of Customer Set up Units (CSU) in xSeries, pSeries, nSeries environment. The installation can usually be performed by the customer without any involvement of a Certified hardware customer engineer. Within the Delivery organization a team of specialists handles the installation on behalf of the customer.
The basic tasks for DCTST are related to building (assembling) hardware components into a fully operational server, racking Servers, cabling Servers over mechanical arms to ensure easy maintenance on installed hardware, removal of hardware and its components for decommissioning, primary hardware investigation on reported hardware incidents, replacement of defect hardware components, follow up on hardware defects with hardware Front Office, installation firmware upgrades and performing smart hands and eyes services.
The team works during business hours with a limited number of interventions on monthly basis outside normal working hours (usually on Saturday).
- Ready to perform weekend interventions (min. 1 weekend/Month for about 6 hours intervention)
- Able to travel (using own car) frequently between 3 sites in Brussels area
