Systems Engineer - 6 month contract - Dorset

Our Client, a large aerospace engineering organisation is looking for a Systems Engineer to be based in Dorset.

The successful candidate will be required to work within Systems Engineering as part of a multi-disciplinary team to carry out systems engineering activities associated with new product development. This will include specifying, developing and qualifying systems and equipment in line with developing business and customer needs throughout the project life cycle for various projects and electronic equipment. Elements of responsibility may include equipment such as avionics Microprocessor control units, lighting systems and controllers.

Duties will include:

The majority of the work will be carried out at the client's new purpose built engineering facility. Occasional (infrequent) travel may be required.

As a Systems Engineer your key responsibilities will include

  • Requirements capture, allocation, derivation, validation and verification
  • Preparation of equipment specifications and other project documentation
  • Sub-system and equipment architecture definition; design and analysis
  • Interface definition and management
  • System integration
  • Risk management
  • Resolution of technical issues during design, development, test, production and in-service
  • Technical management of external suppliers
  • Qualification of equipment and systems
  • Liaison with customers, internal and external
  • Liaison with specialists such as design, performance and ILS engineers
  • Demonstrate adherence to company technical governance processes

Essential Skills

As a Systems Engineer your experience and qualifications will ideally include

  • 5 years+ experience in an aerospace environment within systems & new product development in an avionics role
  • Databus specifications (MIL-STD-1553, ARINC429, CAN).
  • Development of electronic Hardware (DO-254).
  • Safety and certification of airborne software (DO-178).
  • Understanding and experience of systems engineering processes including:
  • Development and certification of complex systems (ARP4754)
  • Systems engineering life cycle processes (ISO15288).
  • Experience of requirements management using tools such as DOORS or Cradle
  • Relevant degree or equivalent

Q4. Can you give examples of the role of a systems engineer in dealing with suppliers and customers that you have been involved in?

Q5. Can you give examples of Systems Analysis or Modelling you have conducted, why and how you achieved this?

Q6. Can you give examples of Systems Integration activity you have led, what the aim was and how you achieved this?
