Job Purpose: This is a key senior role in the Executive and Board structure, with a broad leadership and management portfolio of both clinical services and a range of corporate support functions, the key function of the role is to ensure the safe provision of high quality patient focussed services that meet national and local performance requirements within resources available.

The post holder is also the lead change agent for the transformation of services including service re-organisation, and estates reconfiguration. This will include the supporting/leading the development of clinical strategies.

The post holder will also be required to deputise for the Chief Executive Officer in their absence as required.

Qualifications and Training
Higher degree and/or relevant management qualification
Evidence of continuing professional and personal development

Knowledge:

  • Knowledge of key current issues in NHS systems reform
  • Understanding of the issues facing acute and community health services
  • Well-developed leadership skills and emotional intelligence
  • Strategic thinking and innovation
  • Clear understanding of systems management
  • Highly developed influencing, persuading and communication skills
  • Able to get key messages across on complex issues
  • Able to establish and maintain relationships with key people, both internally & externally
  • Evidence of successful track record of achieving results in a senior leadership role

  • Ability to manage a highly complex portfolio and deliver a wide range of objectives within the time available

Skills and Abilities:
Experience:

  • Significant senior management experience in an NHS Trust, operating at or close to Board level
  • Significant experience across both community and acute based service provision
  • Experience of delivering against challenging performance targets, and of managing others to do so.
  • Experience of delivering high levels of productivity and efficiency.
  • Extensive experience of leading successful change in patient centered care delivery
  • Extensive experience of delivering demonstrably high quality services

Planning and organising:

  • Demonstrates an ability to prioritise own workload and responds appropriately to urgent and emergency situations

Analytical and Judgement:

  • Analyses complex data obtained from several data sources in order to inform decision making up to Board level

Communication and relationships:

  • A highlight effective communicator, able to communicate with staff and stakeholders at all levels in the required context of the role.
  • Able to present and receive complex information within a multi professional team.
  • Ability to convey sensitive information in an empathetic manner to patients, relative/carers and staff.
  • Demonstrate effective written and verbal communication skills.
  • Produce timely, accurate written/electronic records and documents
  • Demonstrates leadership in the management of change
