The Market Data Commercial team is currently 36 resources globally (and growing) geographically spread across Tokyo, India, London and New York. The team is responsible for Content Acquisition and License Rights Management.

The team is made up of Commercial Analysts, Business Analysts, and Financial Managers.  The Commercial Analyst position is required due to a capacity buildout, needed to service the various stakeholder constituencies. 

This is a high-profile position working with senior global executives and subject matter experts, to ensure strong relationships with strategic suppliers.  Working with regional and global peers across multiple disciplines, the Commercial Analyst will be responsible for Content Acquisition life cycle from Request-to-Retirement, including compliance/validation exercises.  This requires someone able to understand, communicate, and manage data strategies, compliance controls, contract negotiations and the impact on day-to-day operations.

A successful candidate must have that rare mix of raw intelligence, zoom lens-like analytical capability, and strong communication skills.

Role description:

  • Primary Relationship Manager for regional exchanges, with a supporting role for those located outside the Americas
    • Monitor policies & assist with internal controls framework
    • Review & complete reports and documentation
    • Perform business and technical due diligence activities
    • Evaluate Enterprise arrangements and assist with vendor negotiations
    • Meet with vendors, attend briefings and industry functions
    • Review and Assist with Vendor Management Communications
      • Work with extension team to obtain data & information to complete Summary Reports
      • Brief Internal stakeholders on policies, fee impact, and related metrics
      • Conduct reviews, working with Technology, MDC, Legal, End Users, and external teams from initiation to ensure a timely completion
      • Lead MDC control efforts in multi-disciplinary team activities with technology upgrades, new products, price increases and rule changes
      • Secondary responsibility for other vendors, as assigned

Key objectives critical to success:

  • An understanding of contract licensing, compliance methodology, fee calculations, and reporting requirements
  • Collaboration with global team members in other regions and divisions
  • Ability to identify, analyze, and communicate data risks in technical materials, verbal interviews, legal contracts, and policy papers
  • Translate Data expert-speak into actionable information
  • Delivery of a high-quality work product in a fast-paced environment, on short notice

Skills, experience, qualifications and knowledge required

  • Bachelor's level degree or equivalent (in Economics/Finance preferred)
  • Strong background/understanding of trading venues, financial markets, and regulatory frameworks
  • Depth of experience with vendor content and usage licensing
  • Solid understanding of current data distribution technologies, control methodologies (including DACS), and inventory tools (MDM)
  • Experience of working with Content Owners, including exchanges, index providers, and aggregators
  • Excellent written and verbal communications, including presentation skills
  • Solid analytical skills and problem-solving capability
  • Strong project management skills
  • Intermediate - Advanced Microsoft Office skills required, including SharePoint
