Our client, a large banking organisation is looking to recruit an experience modeller to join a mortgages team in the midlands.

Principle Purpose of the Job:

  • Maintain and evolve business modelling infrastructure for the Finance Forecasting team within Mortgages.
  • The existing modelling infrastructure that supports the forecast and pricing includes volume planning models and margin-based income models. A successful candidate would take charge of the models which currently facilitate the forecasting and pricing process, before subsequently developing the models to fulfil requirements.
  • To build a broad understanding of the key financial, commercial and market drivers of Mortgage finance. Gather and analyse relevant information from a wide range of sources and reflect this thinking in the forecasting and pricing models.

Key Responsibilities

  • Be a change champion - Deliver new processes as well as look to improve the efficiency of current processes and data management and seek to implement best practice.
  • Challenge and test out any financial models to ensure the technical accuracy used so that effective analysis takes place for the customer groups supported.
  • Forge relationships with a variety of teams to understand and challenge existing forecast methodologies and infrastructure. Continuously seek opportunities to improve insight and efficiency, build this into modelling solutions.
  • Provide insight and value to existing models and infrastructure.
  • Deputising for the analytical manager as required, and any other tasks as requested by the senior management team.
  • Personality: Self-driven with great attention to detail. A very strong, empathetic communicator. An excellent organiser. A natural forward planner who critically assesses own performance. Reliable, tolerant, and determined.

Computer Skills

Must be proficient in the use of MS Office 2000 or later, and have advanced knowledge of Excel (good experience of using VBA, macros etc.) in particular. Previous experience of using SQL, SAS and Access

Literacy & Numeracy

Must have pursued a numerate subject in further education (ideally at a degree level or through professional qualification). Experience in Regression analysis is ideal but not essential
