Responsibilities:
  • Helps evaluate new graphics technologies and/or define requirements for the development of new tools and processes that support the creation of graphics within the department.
  • Creates, maintains, and follows strict guidelines relative to format, pen weights, layering, technical accuracy, etc., for all graphics through the creation and compliance to departmental graphic standards.
  • Interfaces with Parts and Service Manual authors to create graphics contained in product support literature.
  • These graphics are created by retrieving an existing Pro/E, Capt or Auto CAD file from engineering, and modifying the graphic so the dealer parts counter person can recognize and order the correct part.
  • Determines the best approach for graphic representation, which includes orthographic, 3D or 3D exploded views. This may also pertain to utilizing a photograph taken in the field, enhancing color tones, and adding call outs to aide the service mechanic in the tear down and repair of the machine.
  • Also works with the authors to change photos into graphics.
  • Takes direction, receives assignments, and receives training for workload and priorities.
  • Interfaces with Business Unit Engineers for proper graphic retrieval and to ensure that there is technical accuracy of information contained within the graphics.
  • The position is a specialist within the group and provides interpretation and problem solving advice to others inside and outside of the department. Typical internal customers include the position's work group and immediate supervisor. External contacts include various customers and vendors throughout worldwide markets.
  • The position is challenged to quickly and correctly identify problems.
  • The incumbent generally resolves issues by following departmental guidelines and following graphic standards or applying a solution that worked in the past.
  • Impacts key quality goals including Customer Satisfaction, Continuous Improvement, Timeliness, Accuracy, Efficiency, Cost Savings, Process Quality, etc.
  • The position participates in brainstorming sessions focused on developing new approaches to meeting quality goals in the measure(s) stated.
  • Limited travel required.
SKILLS:

Job Requirements:
  • This position requires experience in technical illustrating and/or computer graphics, familiarity with engineering documentation and broad product knowledge.
  • Personal computer skills and familiarity with various software packages is required.
  • Position is in frequent contact with people outside work group to give or obtain information. It is important for incumbents to be adept at three-dimensional visualization and have good communication skills
  • In addition, three to five years of job-related experience are typically required.
Education:
  • Requires Bachelors degree in Graphic Design or a related field.
  • The position typically requires completion of a 1-year vocational program after high school.
